Hormonal
dir. Pien van Griensven, Netherlands 2022, 22 min., 14+, film with subtitles in Polish
At a young age, many women are using hormonal contraception. While its benefits are widely discussed, we rarely hear about the side effects. The experiences of three women with contraception have been woven together into one narrative, examining the radical impact of hormones on our brain and body. In this unique hybrid film, where documentary blends with fiction, a dancer uses her movements to embody the voices of three women who share the effects they have experienced, from loss of libido and energy to profound mood changes, increased stress levels, and altered self-perception.
