Editor – the second director 10+

March 29, 2025 (Saturday) 10:00

We invite you to join our family film workshops, held as part of the LET’S DOC Young Audience Documentary Film Festival.

Today, we open the doors to the art of storytelling through images and sound. In these workshops, led by experienced documentary film editor Laura Pawela, we will explore why editors in documentary filmmaking are often called the “second directors.” We’ll learn what a shot, a cut, or a transition is. Using poster board, we’ll cut, connect, and arrange images. We’ll also get acquainted with simple editing software like iMovie and DaVinci Resolve. At the end, we’ll review the works created and discuss the creative process. Come and let your imagination flourish!

Workshop Facilitator: Laura Pawela-Kolankiewicz
Visual artist, sculptor, and film editor. Lecturer at the Łódź Film School, where she teaches Multimedia. A member of the Polish and European Film Academies.
