Webinar: Presentation of the Course “Metaphor and Storytelling in School Practice” on October 30th on the Teams platform

We invite you to a one-hour webinar titled “Presentation of the Course ‘Metaphor and Storytelling in School Practice,’” which will take place on October 30th at 6:00 PM on the Teams platform. During the webinar, we will present the e-learning course created by Dr. Maciej Dowgiel.

The course on metaphor and storytelling is based on short documentary films that were screened during the second edition of the LET’S DOC Documentary Film Festival for Young Audiences and are now available on VOD Warszawa, forming the LET’S DOC Film Guide.

During the meeting, we will discuss how to effectively conduct the online workshops we propose. You will learn how to use metaphor in film analysis, engaging young people in deeper reflections on the work. We will present the key principles of Roland Barthes’ concept of “The Death of the Author,” which will help students discover new ways to interpret cultural texts. We will also discuss the structure of storytelling based on Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero’s Journey,” which allows for the development of skills in creating their own narratives. The workshop we want to present aims to broaden students’ knowledge of key theories and enhance their creativity. Through the suggested activities, you will gain tools to help better engage young people in post-film discussions. Join us and discover new methods for working with film!

He is also the founder of the Film and Media Research Laboratory.
