Linda & Irina
dir. Guillaume Brao, France 2023, 38 min., 14+, film with Polish subtitles
June 2021 marks the end of the school year at Hénin-Beaumont High School. Linda and Irina are best friends. Between making and posting TikTok videos and school activities, they confide in each other about the most intimate things. They talk about their families, the future, and share their youthful feelings. Unfortunately, Linda will once again have to move away. She won’t be with Irina when the next school year begins. Despite her mother’s advice, this time she has grown attached to her friend, and the separation will be very complicated. This beginning of summer is bittersweet. The director films the young girls during this crucial period of adolescence, when everything is a matter of balance – between their own desires and parental choices, between ephemeral friendship, love, and a world about to turn upside down.
