Sister of Mine

dir. Mariusz Rusiński, Poland 2023, 30 min., 14+, film with subtitles in English

Zuzia is a sensitive and artistically talented teenager. Her brother, the director of this film, uses the camera to observe how his younger sister struggles with drug addiction. But the lens not only focuses on her with scrutiny, but also with sensitivity it examines the relationships within their family and asks what led them all to this situation. All of them, because “Sister of Mine” is an intimate portrait of co-dependency and familial entanglements that influence our decisions, consciously or not. It’s a film that tells a story of love and disappointment, of lack of connection and conflicts that are hard to resolve. Yet, at times, it’s also a humorous tale of very different points of view.

Topics: addiction, drugs, family, siblings, relationships, conflicts, love, grief, disappointment, different points of view

Warning! The film contains explicit language and addresses the topic of addiction to psychoactive substances.
